Riding School Assistant Training 

Riding School Assistant Training Sessions – 2 hours – £16.50

This programme is for anyone aged 14 years or over who is interested in working with horses and learning how a professional riding centre operates. 

Step 1 – Register as a Rider

Please register via EC Pro before booking your training. These sessions are unmounted but to partcipate in any of our sessions you need to be registered as a 'Rider'.

Step 2 – Get Your Riding School Assistant Booklet

Riding School Assistant booklets are available from Reception. 

Booklet cost: £7.50 please bring the correct change. 

Step 3 – Book Your Training Session

Choose from the available BHS RSA Training evening sessions throughout the week. Please click on each date for session details. Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 5-7pm and Weekend 10am till 12pm.

Training cost: £16.50 per 2-hour session

Step 4 – Attend Your Training

Training is delivered in a small, supervised group.

The training covers:

• Horse care, grooming and stable management
• Yard routines and professional standards
• Tack and equipment care
• Health, safety and horse welfare
• Assisting within a riding centre environment
• Building confidence and responsibility
• Developing employability skills

Please note: This is not ridden training. The focus is on horse care, yard routines, safety and learning how to assist with riding lessons.

Step 5 – Complete Your Booklet

Your Riding School Assistant booklet will need to be completed and signed off once you have finished the training and demonstrated competence in all required areas.

Step 6 – Begin Evening and Weekend Volunteering

Once you have successfully completed your Riding School Assistant Certificate, you can attend the available evening and weekend volunteering sessions.

Important Information

• This is a privately paid training programme.
• Participants are learners, not volunteers, while completing their training.
• This is not Alternative Provision.
• The programme is separate from Harmony in Horses.
• A Riding School Assistant Certificate must be completed before attending any evening and weekend Riding School Assistant sessions.
